CyDoors

CyDoors is a visual archive of traditional Cypriot doorways, captured as a celebration of vernacular architecture, material memory, and everyday craftsmanship. Each image documents a recurring architectural language found across Cyprus: double wooden doors worn by time, decorative metal ventilation grates suspended above, and sculpted sandstone architraves framing both entrance and air.

These doors are thresholds in the literal and symbolic sense—markers between public and private space, past and present, function and ornament. Their proportions, textures, and weathering tell quiet stories of climate, trade, protection, hospitality, and identity. No two doors are the same, yet together they form a cohesive architectural rhythm rooted in place.

CyDoors is not about monumentality or restoration, but about preservation through observation. By isolating and elevating these everyday entrances, the collection invites attention to details often passed without notice, transforming them into enduring digital artefacts.

This collection is an homage to Cypriot streetscapes, built heritage, and the subtle beauty of lived architecture.
